Cardigans in Brazil
As a former breeder of English Springer Spaniels and Bull
Terriers I was looking for a smaller breed with a healthy constitution. After long and
careful consideration I finally decided on the Cardigan Corgi. This magnificent breed
caught my heart. I went to the States and bought Coedwig's Grand Jury (Am.Ch.
Am.Ch. Coedwig Vestavia Luminescence x Coedwig´s Snow White) a blue merle bitch born 1
November 1999 and bred by Kim Shira. She began her show career in Brazil in September 2000
and has been extremely successful with several group wins and BIS placements. In October 2002 I imported another Cardigan from the US,
Scaura's Storm Warning (Am.Ch. Coedwig´s Carbon Blue x Am.Ch. Coedwig´s Solar Flare), a
brindle pointed tricolour male born on 6 October 2001 and bred by Scott and Laura Blanton.
He began his show career in Brazil at the beginning of 2003 and has already 3 group wins. These two Cardigans are the foundation stock of my kennel
"Kedfox". The first litter was born on 17 June 2003. There were 7 puppies, 4
males and 3 females. Now the first generation of Cardigans in Brazil is beginning to win.
At her very first show, only 4 months old, the blue merle bitch Kedfox Glain, was Best
Puppy in Group and, beating her sire in BOB, went on to a Group 3rd. As far as I know I am the only Cardigan breeder in South
America. Brazil is a member of the FCI. Carlos Mourão, Rio de Janeiro October 2003 |
